Ok my fellow martians, time to start things moving along again and getting stories happening on TMAH. Season II will kick off soon, we are putting the finishing touches to the first story as I write this. There will also be some more TMAH goodies and a couple of updates as well as a Special TMAH only production of a story I am nearly done celebrating Disney. Good times ahead, grab a wine, relax and put your feet up.
Every so often the world gives us a gift. When I joined the Hawkesbury Writers, I uncovered one such gift. One of the groups poets, Dorathy is one of the elder statewomen of the group. Now in her mid eighties and not very mobile, she doesn’t make it to many meetings any more but when she does it’s a genuine treat. Dorathy is one of those people who has filled several lifetimes into one. Technically she is a poet but in reality she is storyteller who rhymes or finds a rhythm in words. She draws her stories from her life as well as her imagination and boy what an imagination. If every you need to do away with someone and don’t want to get caught talk to Dorathy, over the last ten years she has murdered more people that my good friend Simon Meddings has had beers. Being shy Dorathys work is unpublished, she occasionally does performances and readings at the group and when she does I pay extra attention as it’s always a treat.
There is every chance that like so many wise, talented people, Dorathy will just slip quietly into the next life to take up her place as gods right hand hitwoman. I wish I had recordings of all of Dorathy’s work, maybe I might get the chance. I have made a small step and recorded her at a recent outing.
Three poems, three murder victims, three very different circumstances, take notes you never know when you might need them. Enjoy.
